Full cycle of sustainability

At the heart of WholeVine’s entrepreneurial pursuit is a business model based on the full cycle of sustainability; our earth-friendly solutions and products are intended to generate a well-spring of sustainable support for those in need.

Nature

Everything we produce begins with ingredients sourced from fine wine vineyards in the best coastal growing regions of California, hundreds of acres of earth-friendly 100% certified sustainable land farmed by our sister company, Jackson Family Wines.

Why? Nature is renewable, and the produce of the vineyard 100% pure, loaded with both nutrients and flavor. Excellence, too. Coastal vineyards experience untamed ocean breezes even as vine roots warm against rocks put there by the ages. This powerful natural order develops the nature-born quality in everything that grows in these vineyards.

Harvesting

Yes, we set out to use everything...and vineyards are not just in the wine business anymore. The vines we harvest from were planted to feed the wine industry’s thirst for premium wine. At grape pressing time, within minutes (and at most a few hours) we’re harvesting our own raw ingredients from seeds and skins, and eventually the leaves, stems and stalks. Every bit of new growth each year is available to us except the juice, which is used to make fine wine.

Notably, the raw materials we harvest were the ones typically cast aside until now. We conceive of a time when everything in the vineyard is harvested for its highest best use, something we call Optimum Harvesting. We believe that farming for the highest best use is the future of vineyard practice and leads to better raw ingredients for industries outside the wine business. Besides, it leads to better ingredients for more industries.

Generating Goods

We use earth-friendly, forward-looking technology to help us craft products that can lead the way in their category, whether its bio-available nutrition or natural colorants, absorbable materials or bio-active packaging. We partner with
higher education and industry experts to amass a better understanding of the possibilities to raise the bar on innovation and expectations, always with a mindset to being earth-friendly and kind to humans.

Charitable Giving

Kindness to humans and their communities is important to WholeVine. We believe that sustainability and earth‐friendly practices are not fulfilled without considering the people in our communities.

This is in keeping with our goal to generate benefits in health and well‐being through our products, carrying some of the revenue of that endeavor back to the community through philanthropy. We are committed to sharing part of our profits to support important and meaningful charitable causes, with a particular focus on children in need or at risk.

We hope this will result in greater support for the full cycle of sustainability, and begin the process all over again in the next growing season. Through this process, we hope to give new meaning to “the fruit of the vine”.

Five things that mean a lot to us.
